Yesterday I went to the Fidelity Blenheim Palace Horse Trials with the Russells and Hibberds. We arrived at about 11 and started walking the course as there was a scavenger hunt, with a letter on each jump to write down and win a pair of socks! We only got as far as the water as it was taking forever and the hill after the water didn’t look very inviting, but here are the pictures of the first jumps
After walking the course, we headed up to the Fidelity tent, as we’d been booked in on a virtual simulated cross country course ride! Here’s a pic of Sheryl on the horse
The horse rode nothing like a real horse, but it was good fun! When we left at about 5.30, I was at the top of the leader board, so hopefully some prizes will be coming my way! :D It was really interesting as it gives a print out afterwards of where you’re putting your weight and if you’re pulling the reins over jumps. I seemed to be pretty balanced over the jumps which is good :)
We then went and had lunch under a tree by the warm up arena, and watched lots of people warming up including some side saddle riders. Then the showjumping was about to start so we took our seats in the arena, and watched William Fox-Pitt make his 50th 3day event win!
After that there was a parade by the Olympic team, which was nice, and after that we went home :)
